HESCHUNG Our shoes are made using traditional techniques handed down from generation
Heritage
A FAMILY HISTORY SINCE 1934
Heschung is, above all, about family and expertise. In 1934 Eugène Heschung set up the factory that he was to pass on to his son Robert and subsequently to his grandson Pierre. Each generation has initiated, trained and guided the next, passing down the traditional expertise that is the hallmark of our footwear. Each person has drawn on their roots and followed their instinct to better reinvent this know-how.
934 OPENING OF THE FACTORY
Northern Alsace, part of which is covered by the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, is an area where flora and fauna are protected and the remains of imposing castles overhang the sandstone buttresses of the hillsides. It was in this awe-inspiring environment that Eugène Heschung, originally a clicker in one of the twelve factories in Dettwiller, started making his own shoes in Steinbourg in 1934. With the opening of his manufacture came the first traditionally-made hiking boots and work shoes with genuine reverse welt or Goodyear welt construction.
1990 TO THE PRESENT DAY
When Pierre Heschung came along, he decided to reinterpret the reverse welt and Goodyear welt in collections that drew on his mastery.
